Homo Sappy Quirks at Substack

Auditioned for ‘Non-Sappy Human’. Rejected. Again.

Welcome to Homo Sappy Quirks at Substack —
where cue cards burn, the fourth wall quivers, and nobody calls curtains.

Life plays out like bad theatre:
No script. Dubious casting. Improvised meaning.
Control? Hearsay.

They call it Modern Realism.
I call it Wonderful, Shitty Life Happenstance.

This is the theatre of daily absurdity.
Shakespeare meets the group chat meltdown.
The curated self. The silent tantrum.
The unhinged monologue no one hears.

You’ll find lyrical essays, three-act digital dramas, hermit crab experiments, and bleaker-than-thou inner dialogues.
Ghosts offer unsolicited advice.
Pigeons develop god complexes.
Bleak laughs echo through blocked lists.
There is no exit.

Come for the monologue. Stay for the mirror.
Or crawl toward the fire exit. Your call.

‘All the world’s a stage,
And all of us merely players;
We have our entrances and our exits;
And one queer being, in their time, plays many parts…’
— As You Like It, Act II, Scene VII

Written by Nicola Ann Beykirch – author, playwright, sardonic optimist.
Currently based at Nicola Ann Words. Rehearsing for a part that doesn’t exist.
